Memory Chip Prices Stay High with Tight Supply — Cost Pressure Mounts for USB Flash Drives
According to the latest research by TrendForce, the memory chip market in 2026 shows a pattern of "AI-driven demand with structural divergence": DRAM and NAND Flash contract prices remain at record highs, upstream supply stays tight, and cost pressure is cascading down the supply chain.
TrendForce estimates NAND Flash contract prices to rise 10–15% QoQ in Q3 2026, while commodity DRAM contract prices are expected to rise 13–18% QoQ. NAND Flash demand continues to be underpinned by AI inference and large data-center buildouts, with contract prices already at historical peaks.
In Q2 2026, the top five NAND brands' combined revenue grew 77% QoQ to USD 6.887 billion. Samsung led with USD 2.306 billion (+70.7% QoQ), while Micron posted the fastest growth (+99.2% QoQ). Suppliers are prioritizing capex toward DRAM and HBM, limiting new NAND capacity.
AI servers are driving robust enterprise SSD demand and firmer pricing, while consumer electronics such as smartphones and PCs remain weak — and consumer peripherals like USB flash drives and memory cards are reaching their limit in absorbing higher prices.
With rising wafer and packaging costs combined with tight supply, procurement costs for finished storage products such as USB flash drives face sustained upward pressure. If you are planning to order or restock, we recommend locking in orders and pricing early to hedge against further increases and extended lead times.
SUNTRAP will keep monitoring the memory chip market to provide stable custom USB drive sourcing and supply. Feel free to contact us for product solutions or early price locking.
